Liverpool Move Nine Points Clear At The Top After Thrashing Arsenal

An in-form Liverpool have moved nine points clear at the top of the Premier League after thrashing Arsenal 5-1.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles opened the scoring for the Gunners, but Jürgen Klopp’s side would bounce back and put on a scintillating display against Unai Emery’s men.

The Reds would head into half-time with a 4-1 lead thanks to Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah.

With Firmino scoring a first-half brace, he would round off the performance with a hat-trick after firing in Liverpool’s fifth from the spot kick.

Second-place Tottenham Hotspur had the chance to keep Liverpool’s lead to six points earlier in the day, but that failed after a shock 3-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Manchester City are in action against Southampton on Sunday and a win would move them into second place ahead of Spurs.
